PaperFig: Scientific Figure Drafts and Label Editing

PaperFig turns a description, sketch or reference material into a draft scientific illustration, such as a mechanism diagram, workflow or graphical abstract. Its label-editing workflow helps correct generated text before export. The author remains responsible for the scientific meaning and the destination journal's requirements.

Draft the figure, then inspect the science

The official product page describes text, sketch, image and PDF-based starting material, together with OCR-assisted label correction. The output should be treated as a draft: inspect arrows, entity names, units, spatial relationships and whether the diagram implies a claim your evidence does not support.

Start with a small mechanism or workflow you can verify completely. A polished illustration can still contain an incorrect connection or a label that looks plausible.

Free generation is not a publication license

The pricing page lists 150 signup credits. Free output is watermarked PNG for non-commercial use and does not include a publication license or the paid export formats. The page shows Scholar at $120/year with 2,000 credits/month, valid for 30 days per cycle, and publication/commercial licensing.

Core generation, enhancement, label fixing and 4K upgrades are separately metered operations; editable exports can cost additional credits. Do not treat the cost of one draft as the cost of every revision and final output.

Check what is editable

The documented export workflow includes PNG and, after label fixing, editable SVG/PPTX exports. Confirm the selected plan and which elements remain editable; an editable label layer is not proof that every part of a generated scientific illustration is an editable vector object.

Verify output size and legibility at the intended publication dimensions. A higher pixel count does not establish scientific accuracy or compliance with a journal's figure policy.

Before submitting a manuscript

Check both the provider's usage terms and the target journal or institution's rules for AI-assisted figures and disclosure. A provider license cannot override a journal's requirements. We have not generated a figure, downloaded an export or verified acceptance by a journal.

Compare the current credits, export rights and billing cycle before using the tool for a publication.
